I never thought I could make money online when I started the journey back in April 2020.
But I have made more than $57,000 from the Amazon KDP business and I further made $80,000 by selling the business.
It sure sounds like I am bragging, but the purpose of telling you all this is to show you how I did it.
What is Amazon KDP?
Amazon KDP stands for Kindle Direct Publishing. It’s a platform that allows anyone to publish and sell ebooks and paperbacks on Amazon.
People publish Novels, How-To books, and other books that have a huge number of words in them. But luckily there are different categories of books that don’t require writing. It’s called a low-content book.
A low-content book is a book that has little or no text inside. It’s usually filled with lined pages, dotted pages, or simple designs.
Some examples of low-content books are:
- Journals
- Diaries
- Planners
- Notebooks
- Coloring books
- Sudoku Puzzle Books
- Activity Books and more….
Low-content books are very easy to create compared to full-content books.

Why did I decide to Sell My KDP Business?
After four years of running my KDP business, I started to feel bored. I hadn’t created new books in months and publishing felt monotonous.
In addition, my account was once terminated by Amazon. But luckily I got my account back. Since my account got terminated, opening my KDP dashboard involved a feeling of massive dread about whether my account was still active or terminated.
But how could I sell my KDP business? Who would buy it? And how much could I get for it?
That’s when I discovered Empire Flippers.
What is Empire Flippers?
Empire Flippers is the leading online marketplace for buying and selling online businesses. They have helped thousands of entrepreneurs buy and sell different types of online businesses.
- E-commerce stores
- Affiliate sites
- SaaS products
- Amazon FBA
- Amazon KDP and more
What I liked about Empire Flippers is that Buyers need to show proof of funds to view the listed business profiles. Also, they vet every business before they list it on their website.
How I Sold My KDP Business on Empire Flippers?
It was July 29, 2024. I decided to list my KDP business on Empire Flippers. I opened an account on the Empire Flippers website and submitted my business for review.
After a few weeks, I received an email from Empire Flippers. They verified my business and gave me a final valuation of around $97,000, based on a multiple of 35x of my monthly net profit.
I was happy with the valuation. So, I agreed to sell my business at that price.
Within a week, I received several inquiries from interested buyers. After around 3 weeks, I received an offer from a buyer who was willing to pay $80,697 for the KDP business.
Although that was a bargain of $17,000 from Empire Flippers’ valuation, I agreed to the offer.
There is a 24-hour circulation period after the offer has been made, where other potential buyers can bid for the business by increasing the offer price by 10%. But no one made a further offer. And the deal was closed at $80,697.
Empire Flippers then facilitated the migration of my KDP account to the buyer.
I was sad to let go of the first real business that made me money, but I also felt a sense of freedom.
Amazon can be unpredictable at times and can terminate your account without any concrete reasons, so selling the business has provided me with a sense of relief.
What did I learn from running and selling my KDP business?
Overall, selling my KDP business has been a good experience. Not because of the money I have made (that is rewarding too), but mainly because of what I learned during the process.
I learned a lot from running and selling my KDP business, such as:
- To create and sell low-content books on Amazon KDP
- To run Amazon ads on my books to rank them on Amazon
- To sell an online business
- To negotiate and close a deal with a buyer
- To migrate and transfer an online business to a buyer
How the Business is Currently Performing?
You might be wondering how the business is doing after I sold it. Well, I’m happy to report that it’s doing great!
The new buyer is running aggressive Amazon Ad campaigns to get more book sales.
Looking at the BSRs of the books, my estimate is the business has grown more than 2x since I sold it.
I’m very happy for the buyer and his success. I wish him all the luck and hope he continues to grow the business.
What’s Next for Me?
Selling my KDP business was not the end of my online money-making journey.
But before I started my next online venture, I decided to take a break for a while. I took a vacation to India. Visiting the Taj Mahal and Vrindaban were the main highlights of the trip.
After returning from India, I felt ready to start new projects.
I thought about learning HTML and Javascript to create a website, but the process had a huge learning curve. So, I opted for the easier option and started learning about WordPress.
The blog you are reading is the first WordPress site I created to share my online money-making journey and insights with you.
I will also create a new YouTube channel to supplement this website. God willing.
